About Us:

Valley Laser Eye Centre is situated in Abbotsford, B.C. Dr. John Blaylock, ophthalmologist, is the owner and medical director of the centre. His business partner, Julie Lucas, is the executive director.

Originally starting his practice in 1989 with a general ophthalmology and cataract practice, Dr. Blaylock is well known in the Fraser Valley and performed cataract surgery with lens implants at the MSA Hospital for many years. With local healthcare restructuring, cataract surgeries are now performed at Chilliwack General Hospital, where Dr. Blaylock attends once a week offering public cataract surgery to the residents of the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland.

Valley Laser Eye Centre opened in 1997 offering laser eye surgery as an alternative to wearing glasses and/or contact lenses. Technology has progressed over the years, allowing us to now provide more options with improved results. Currently, we offer two laser eye surgery procedures as well as various lens implant surgeries.

As one of the world’s leading experts in eye surgery, Dr. Blaylock continues to strive for the ultimate in visual outcomes for his patients. With Dr. Blaylock lecturing around the world on his own techniques and clinical studies, the Valley Laser Eye Centre is now ranked as one of the top laser centres in North America.

In March 2006, Valley Laser Eye Centre moved to its current location at 5 Corners in Abbotsford, B.C. Combining the cataract practice and the laser centre under one roof, the facility now offers a comprehensive, premium eye care resource for patients throughout British Columbia.

Blaylock Surgical Centre, a private surgical facility providing a variety of procedures, also opened in March of 2006. Orthopaedic surgery, WCB cases, plastic and cosmetic surgery, dental surgery, gynecology and urology procedures, general surgery, cataract surgery, refractive surgery with lens implants, as well as Botox and cosmetic procedures are all offered. The 7000 sq. ft. facility includes three operating rooms, recovery rooms, sterilization area, eight examining rooms along with two luxurious waiting rooms with fireplaces and Plasma screen and a children’s area with play-stations and flat screen TV. An elegant reception area with friendly and knowledgeable staff welcomes clients. A custom elevator conveniently transports you from the main floor to the second floor of the centre. There is also ample free parking on site.

Following strict guidelines and regulations from the College of Physicians & Surgeons of B.C., the centre is inspected regularly and has received its approval from the College as a premium surgical facility.
