Patient Testimonials
I heard about the new technology that Dr. Blaylock was doing at Valley Laser Eye Centre. I had previously been rejected for traditional LASIK, but was qualified as a candidate for IntraLASIK by Dr. Blaylock. Its amazing, such a quick recovery time, I was seeing 20/20 the very next day, unbelievable! I’m an avid snowboarder and dirt bike rider, and to be free of glasses for my sports is amazing. Thank you for improving the quality of my life.
Sincerely,
Dennis G,
Salmon Arm. B.C.

IntraLASIK
Valley Laser Eye Centre is one of the first clinics in British Columbia to offer the IntraLASIK procedure. IntraLASIK, a 100% blade-free surgical procedure designed to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, was developed as an alternative to the traditional LASIK procedure and has had consistently high rates of safety and success.
The IntraLASIK femtosecond laser uses a near infrared beam of light to precisely separate tissue by using focused laser pulses which divide material at the molecular level without the transfer of heat or impact to the surrounding tissue. This process allows the surgeon to produce a hinged flap of the protective corneal tissue, without the use of a blade (as in traditional LASIK procedures). The flap is lifted to expose the cornea. The surgeon will then reshape the cornea with a second laser, a painless procedure that normally takes less than 60 seconds per eye. Following the surgery, the corneal flap is replaced and protective plastic shields are placed over each eye for protection. Patients who undergo the IntraLASIK procedure experience little to no discomfort following their surgery and are normally seeing very well within 24 - 48 hours. Following surgery and prior to being discharged, you will spend approximately 45 minutes in the recovery room where your eyes are examined.
Once you arrive home, you should rest and sleep as much as possible for the first 24 hours. At that time, you will be required to return to the centre for your first post-operative examination.
Following this examination, you will be seen one week, one month, three months, six months and twelve months later, either at our centre or with your local eye care physician, to monitor your surgery progress and continued eye health.
The majority of patients can return to work within three to four days following the surgery.
