This high technology procedure can help the majority of patients who are suffering from reading vision as well as distance vision. This is a multi-focal lens implant, which can eliminate people's dependence on bi-focals, tri-focals and/or progressive lenses. The procedure, very similar to cataract surgery, is performed on an out-patient basis. The natural lens in your eye is removed and replaced with the ReSTOR intraocular lens, which will remain with you for your lifetime. The advancement in the lens technology now allows the majority of people 45+ to consider the procedure, gain good vision for distance and reading vision without the need for glasses. A further advantage to this procedure is that you will not get cataracts as you age, as your natural lens has been removed.
Once the surgery has been completed, you will be taken to the recovery area. Once comfortable, you will be discharged home. Once you arrive home, rest and sleep as much as possible for the first 24 hours. You will return to the centre for your 24 hour post-operative examination. You will then return at two weeks, six weeks, three months and six months.
There is an adjustment period with the VISION PROCEDURE™ and it can take up to six months, or even longer, for some patients to achieve their ultimate visual expectation. Some patients may need a further laser surgery following the lens implant procedure, to correct any residual astigmatism.
Complimentary consultations are available at Valley Laser Eye Centre.
