ReSTOR Multi-focal Lens

This is the latest technology for replacing your natural lens. A superior soft acrylic lens implant is folded and inserted into your eye, allowing for a much smaller incision and less trauma to your eye. The multi-focal lens will allow you to have distance and reading vision, which eliminates the need for glasses in the majority of patients.

Dr. Blaylock has been implanting multi-focal lens implants for 4 years for those patients age 45+ who are frustrated with their bi-focals, progressives and/or reading glasses.

He is now able to offer two more lens implants, improving choices for patients.

The Toric lens is a lens implant for those who have astigmatism, allowing the patient to enjoy good distance vision. Some patients will need glasses for close-up reading with this lens implant.

The other new lens is the Tetraflex accommodating lens. This lens implant improves distance and intermediate vision as well as reading vision. Some patients may need glasses for very small print. For the majority of patients, this lens will not exacerbate night time glare and haloes. Some patients may need a laser treatment to treat any residual astigmatism.

The ReSTOR multi-focal lens has been used for many years, giving patients good distance and reading vision. With this lens, some patients may need glasses for their mid-range vision (typically computer range), or they may consider a laser treatment to help correct the mid-range or astigmatism, normally performed within a couple of months of the lens implant.

Any of the above lenses can be used on patients with or without cataracts. The Restore Vision procedures are performed on an out-patient basis and are all lens implants that may require some laser treatment to complete the procedure.

Just wanted to update everyone on my new wonderful life with ReStor implants!

After wearing hard contacts or glasses for almost 40 years I had the Restore VISION PROCEDURE TM in November 2005 and IntraLASIK surgery to correct astigmatism in June 2006.  Unless you have experienced the frustration of hard contacts, many pairs of glasses for specific uses and aging you can’t imagine the freedom with the implants. I had the final intraLASIK on a Thursday afternoon, Saturday I played in a golf tournament in Kamloops where it is very windy.  I didn’t even need the big sunglasses, just my old Serengetti’s.  Amazing.

More amazing was a recent trip to Hawaii.  We played every course on Kauai (in case you don’t know it is very windy in Hawaii) rode in a Helicopter without any doors (I was on the outside front seat) could see everything including a 360 degree rainbow and humpback whales.  Took a kayak trip and got dumped off by a power boat pulling a wake board and no worries about Contacts or Glasses!  Freedom 55 has a whole new meaning for me….

The surgery was painless and I didn’t experience any discomfort afterwards.  Two hours after the implants were put in we watched a movie in our hotel room.  No glasses!

I can’t say enough good about Dr. Blaylock and all his staff, they were wonderful and very patient with a scared stiff patient.  I would highly recommend this procedure.
